The Narrow Path: Mark 3:7-27 (part 2) "A Divided Kingdom Cannot Stand" Mark 3:7-27 (part 2) "A Divided Kingdom Cannot Stand" ================================================================================ Pastor Andy G. on 01/15/2012 07:00:00 So as mentioned in my previous post, Jesus calmed everybody down and spoke to them again in parables, asking, "How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, it cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, it won't be able to stand. If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand. But his end has come." "No one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his property without first tying up the strong man. Only then can the house be plundered." This is also a good example of what's happening today in the U.S. For example, the majority of the country voted in Obama as our leader. Our leader has been working towards his promises, but many oppose his taking office (sore losers), as well as his stances, changes, plans, party, leadership, etc. As a result, our President has not been able to make all the changes and improvements that he's promised and wanted to make upon coming into office. First of all, it needs to be understood that George Bush Jr. really mucked things up over the years, so a huge portion of Obama's tasks have been to move the country into recovery-mode. It's like a spoiled little child who threw his toys all around the house, breaking many and losing pieces, and Obama's like the new owner of the house who must clean up the mess before fully moving his stuff in. Some examples The health plan: Obama's original idea sounded pretty good, and also had some room for improvement. But the GOP fought it, wouldn't let him do things the way he'd hoped, and now it sucks. Economy: our President has some ideas for improving, but continues to get shot down by the GOP because it removes money from their hands...for they're more about remaining rich than they are about improving the country. The Tea Party (just evil opposition) Pulling troops out: Originally, we were going to pull out because there's no more need to be there. But now we're pulling our troops out because we need to build up our own country before others'. Go figure, our country continues to claim the term, "United we stand, divided we fall". Understand, this post is not a means of expressing my political opinions or taking sides. I actually hate politics and would prefer not to get into a political discussion with anybody (so please keep your comments in line with the passage). But Jesus said that If a kingdom is divided against itself, it cannot stand. Our country is divided, and continues to divide against itself. How much longer do you think we'll stand as a nation? Both our country and the Church need to be as the strong man's house. We can't allow the strong man to be tied up (any longer)...he needs to be untied. ---Pastor Andy
