As usual my good intentions to post blogs at least weekly were swallowed up by busyness. I had a speaking engagement
to get ready for, then we spent a week with family, then the children were sick all of last week. This blog has been
on my mind for a while so I decided I should go ahead and get it down.
Like I said the kids were sick all week.
Our daughter was very sick, more sick than I have seen her in a while. My son just ran some fever and had a headache
for a few days. On Friday they were a little better, so we did some errands going through drive thrus. My daughter
finally ate half a sandwich before we left pretty- much the first thing she had ate in 5 days. In the car, she complained
that the sandwich made her nauseous. Then later on she complained that her ear hurt. While we were out I drove
thru Sonic and got my son a milkshake and my daughter a sprite. Later we get back home and in a few minutes my son (who's
7) walked through the kitchen and said, "Man that milkshake made my ear nauseous!" Well I about fell in the
floor laughing, in fact I just laughed about it as I was writing it. Since he didn't understand why I was laughing
at him so hard, I finally was able to stop laughing long enough to explain what nauseous meant and then he laughed also.
I can tell you though, that if it was possible for my ears to be nauseous they would be right now from everything
in the media about our financial crisis and the election. In fact - I have made it a point to not what the news or read
any papers lately because it definitely makes my stomach nauseous.
This is a crucial time for our country,
and it is definitely a time for Christians to take a stand. If you read the old testament, you will see repeatedly the
Nation of Israel rise and prosper when they followed God and crash and burn when they followed idols and took God out of their
daily lives. Our nation was founded as "One nation Under God," by very intelligent men who knew this
biblical truth. In fact listen to a speech given by Benjamin Franklin in 1787, in Philadelphia, to the Convention for
forming a Constitution for the United States.
"In the beginning of the contest with Britain when we were
in sensible danger, we had daily prayers in this room for the Divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they
were graciously answered. ...And have we now forgotten this powerful friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need His assistance?
I have lived for a long time (81 years), and the longer I live the more convincing proof I see of this truth, that God
governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it possible that an
empire can rise without His aid? we have been assured, Sir, in the sacred Writings (Bible), that 'Except the Lord
build the house, they labor in vain that build it.' I firmly believe this, and I also believe that without His concurring
aid we shall proceed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel."
I firmly believe
that if we still had people running our country who believed like our forefathers did, we would not be in crisis right
now. Americans have worked so hard to separate church and God from the state that now we have lost His blessing.
We have mistakenly assumed that we no longer needed His assistance and relied on our prosperity instead of God and now our
prosperity is failing. God is the only one who will never fail, however we Christians have stood aside and let others
remove Him from our government, our schools, our workplaces and pretty much from anywhere except the church building, therefore
we are laboring in vain. Since we have removed God from our country, it seems we are on the path of all great
nations who before us have fallen when they also have forgotten their 'powerful friend.'
So what
can we do about it now... 2 things come to mind.
1. Vote - In the upcoming presidential elections one man
will uphold the Biblical principles of the sanctity of life and Holy matrimony between man and women and one man does not
believe
in those Biblical standards. Don't be fooled by the world that we need to vote on the man who looks
the best or talks the best. Christians need to vote on the man that will uphold the Biblical principles that God commands
us to follow. The man who will vote for pro-choice is not the one God would choose. The man that will not stand
up for Holy matrimony is not the one God would choose. Friend don't forget that we will all answer to God one day
for our actions here and that includes the action of voting on the the most Godly choice.
2. Pray -
this is the most important thing we can do just like our forefathers prayed daily for this nation, so should we. 2
Chronicles 7:14 says:
"14If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will
forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
He tells us that if we, His people (saved Christians),
humble ourselves and pray, seek Him, and live for Him, He will heal our nation. Daily right now we need to be praying
that God will not turn us over to our selfish desires and let us self destruct, but that He will heal our nation and continue
to bless us.
This isn't the time to worry -it is the time to act- stop letting the ungodly lead us down the
path of destruction. We still have a voice- let's start using it.
Staying the Narrow Path, have a blessed
day!
